Zaanse Schons

This was a much more fascinating place than I expected. In the Netherlands, old buildings in the Zaans river area were being knocked down to make room for development. In 1947 a gentleman took it upon himselft to organize a society to move the buildings to this place, so that they are available in posterity. They've been turned into museums, shops, restaurants.

This poor guy is missing his ankle. Actually, it's amazing that these statues have held up as well as they have, since they're in a public park.
